I have HID plug-n-play kits in all 3 of my cars (headlight and fog lights), all of which have regular halogen lenses besides the Taurus fog lights which are projectors but all are properly aimed so they don't blind people, even cops I have come across said they really don't care as long as it's not blinding people or the annoying bright blue color wash. Never said it wasn't illegal but because the vehicle the OP is talking about already has the halogen projector which does the proper light cut off. If you already have a halogen projector and want a HID lighting system all you need is a plug-n-play kit. It was a mere suggestion as how to get "a like" hid system without having to get a SHO or all of the costly retro-fit stuff to convert everything over. ![]() I know a halogen light will not work for an HID lighting system. They do require rearranging the wiring in the pigtail connectors - why I bought the Ford Factory Wiring Diagram. However, I have purchased a set of HID housings (legal ones) that I will be installing at some point in the near future. Second, if you do install an HID capsule you are in violation of 49CFR571.108 and 49CFR564 of the Federal DOT/NHSTA law code.įor some "scientific" reading on the subject, go here:īut to answer your question Jamers, HIDs came only *as an option* in the SHOs. As a matter of fact, "converting" a halogen housing to HID is illegal in every country on earth (yes, that includes the USA too. There is no science to back up that "it's OK". that's what putting an HID capsule in a halogen housing is like. No matter what anyone tells you, or what you think.įirst of all, imagine putting on someone else's eye glasses. Will it reflect the light? Yes, of course, but it will not do it correctly. ![]() A "halogen" light will NOT work for an HID lighting system. You are stating the greatest lighting misnomer in history. You would just need a kit for a HB3 or 9005 bulb size. ![]() Now if you got a SE, SEL or Limited you could always add in an aftermarket plug-n-play kit and the nice thing is that the Taurus headlight already uses a halogen projector for great controlled lighting.
